Vidal Nuno is now a starting pitcher for the New York Yankees, he made a few starts and had a couple relief performances for them in the bigs this year, and is currently on the DL.
On Thursday July 11th the Western Baseball Association played its third annual All-Star game at Poway High School. In front of 15 scouts, the South beat the North by the final of 6-0. Nine South pitchers combined on the 6 hitter. Matt Bataska (CS San Marcos) picked up the win by throwing 1 inning of shutout ball. Tim Leary (Westmont) was named game MVP by going 1-4 with a 2B and 3 RBI's. Denny Vigo (CS San Marcos) hit a solo Home Run as well. We thank Debbie Farraci of the SoCal Sklz for making sure everything at the field was run perfectly. We would also like to thank Darrel Thomas and James Lofton of the Rancho Belago Rockets for coaching the North team and Brian Basteyns and the entire San Diego Force coaching staff for running the South. Lastly, the league would like to thank Scott Hopgood of the Stars for running the pre-game workout and all the MLB scouts who were in attendance. And of course to all the fans we thank you for attending the game. It was a great evening for all. Thank you.
